George Russell was told to hand second place back to Kimi Antonelli at the Dutch Grand Prix, questioned the call on the radio, then backed it publicly afterwards. "We've always said as a team, when we're on different strategies, we're never going to fight and we're always going to invert," Russell said. "Kimi was ahead of me before the VSC. He deserved second." Antonelli had pitted for softs under a late Virtual Safety Car and rejoined behind Russell, who stayed out on older hards. On the fresher tyre he closed quickly, and Mercedes inverted the cars.
